The Service

## The everyday plumbing that keeps a house running
This is the bread-and-butter work: a tap that has dripped for months, a toilet that runs constantly, a shower with no pressure, a waste that keeps leaking under the sink, an outside tap for the garden, a cylinder that needs replacing, or pipework that needs moving to make room for a new kitchen.

Small jobs get the same treatment as large ones. Isolation valves fitted where they should have been in the first place, joints made properly rather than over-tightened, everything pressure-tested, and the area left clean. The reason people call us back for the next job is usually that the last one was tidy.

Larger installations - cylinders, full pipework replacement, kitchen and utility plumbing, appliance connections, pumps and pressure improvement - are quoted in writing before a spanner is lifted, so you know the cost and the timescale before committing.

Because we cover heating and gas as well, plumbing jobs that turn out to be heating jobs do not need a second trade or a second wait. One number covers it.

Dripping taps and running toiletsSmall faults that waste a surprising amount of water and get worse in slow, expensive stages.

Poor pressure or slow-filling bathsOften a partially closed valve, a scaled cartridge or an outlet fed by the wrong supply, all diagnosable.

New sinks, showers, cylinders and appliancesFitted and connected correctly, tested under pressure, and left with isolation where you can reach it.

Kitchen or utility refitsPipework moved and reworked to suit the new layout, coordinated around the rest of your trades.

What Happens If It Waits

## Small plumbing faults are just early leaks
A dripping tap wastes water continuously and, more importantly, tells you a seal or seat has failed. The same slow deterioration is happening at the joints and valves you cannot see. A running toilet can waste hundreds of litres a day quietly, and on a metered supply it goes straight onto the bill.

Leaks under sinks and behind appliances are the ones that cause real damage, because they soak into carpentry and floors long before anyone notices. Chipboard kitchen units swell and crumble, laminate flooring lifts, and by the time there is a visible stain the repair has grown from a £15 washer to a new cabinet run.

Bad pressure and slow flow are usually treated as something to live with. They rarely are. Scaled cartridges, part-closed service valves, blocked filters and undersized pipework all have specific fixes, and hard water across Buckinghamshire makes scale a recurring factor.

The other cost is the botch. Compression joints over-tightened until the olive deforms, waste pipes run with insufficient fall, and no isolation valves anywhere, all of which mean the next small job needs the whole house drained down.

### Common mistakes we get called out to fix

- Living with a slow drip

The washer is not the point; the drip is evidence the fitting is deteriorating and will eventually fail properly.

- Chemical drain cleaner in a leaking waste

It corrodes traps and seals and can make a repairable joint into a replacement, while rarely clearing the real blockage.

- Silicone as a leak repair

Sealant over a failing joint hides the leak while it keeps soaking into the carpentry underneath.

- Appliances plumbed into the wrong outlet

Self-fitted washing machine and dishwasher connections are a routine source of hidden under-unit leaks.

- No isolation valves anywhere

Without them, changing a single tap means draining the whole system, and every future job costs more in labour.

Our Process

## A fixed sequence, every job,so nothing gets guessed at

- 01
### Inspection
We look at the fitting, the supply, the waste and the pressure, and check whether the fault is local or system-wide.

- 02
### Diagnosis
The actual cause is identified - seal, cartridge, scale, valve, pressure or pipework - and explained in plain terms.

- 03
### Fixed quote
The job is priced before it starts. Quotes are free, and on larger installations you get the cost and the timescale in writing.

- 04
### Work carried out
Repair or installation completed neatly, with isolation valves fitted where sensible and the working area protected.

- 05
### Test & guarantee
Everything run and pressure-checked, waste connections tested for leaks, site cleared, and the work guaranteed for a year.

In Detail

## The plumbing work we are called out for most
Across High Wycombe, Marlow, Beaconsfield and the surrounding towns, the same jobs come up week after week. Here is how each is approached and what the options usually are.

### Taps, mixers and cartridges
Traditional taps use rubber washers and ceramic-seated bodies; modern monobloc mixers use ceramic disc cartridges. Which one you have decides whether the fix is a cheap service part or a replacement tap, and hard water is the usual reason cartridges seize or weep.

Where a tap body itself is corroded or the seat is pitted, replacement is the sensible money: a new tap fitted with isolation valves takes less labour than repeatedly servicing a failing one. We will tell you which side of that line your fitting falls on.

### Toilets, cisterns and wastes
Constantly running toilets are almost always a failed flush valve or float valve, both of which are straightforward replacements. Concealed cisterns behind furniture panels need a little more care, but access is nearly always available through the flush plate.

Leaks at the pan connector, wobbling pans on tiled floors, and slow flushes caused by partially blocked branch waste are also routine. Where a pan needs removing we protect the floor and reseal properly rather than relying on the original push-fit connector.

### Showers, cylinders and water pressure
Poor shower performance has several distinct causes: low incoming mains pressure, a gravity system with insufficient head, a scaled shower cartridge or head, or a mixer fed from mismatched supplies. Each has a different remedy, and pressure is measured rather than assumed.

Unvented cylinders give mains-pressure hot water to every outlet and are the usual upgrade for family homes with more than one bathroom. They require correctly sized supply pipework and safety discharge arrangements, both of which are checked as part of the quote.

Where mains pressure genuinely is the limitation, a pump or an accumulator may be the answer, but only after the simpler causes have been ruled out.

### Pipework, materials and access
We work in copper, barrier plastic and, where appropriate, press-fit systems. Copper is used where pipework is visible or in tight, high-temperature locations; barrier plastic suits long buried runs and awkward routing under floors.

Buried and concealed pipework is pressure-tested before it is covered. Where floorboards must come up, they are lifted carefully and refitted, and access is discussed with you before anything is cut.

For kitchen and utility work, the plumbing is set out around the new layout with isolation on every appliance branch, so a future dishwasher change is a fifteen-minute job rather than a house-wide drain-down.

How much does a plumber cost in High Wycombe?+Quotes are free and most jobs are fixed-priced before the work starts, so the figure you agree is the figure you pay. Where a fixed quote is not possible in advance, a £100 call-out fee applies and you are told before we attend.

Will you take on small jobs?+Yes. A single tap, a running toilet or a leaking waste is a perfectly normal booking. Small jobs are quoted the same way as big ones and done to the same standard.

How quickly can you come out?+Emergencies are covered 24 hours a day and the phone is answered first time by the engineer. Non-urgent work is usually booked within a few days, and you get a time you can plan around.

Do you fit customer-supplied taps and fittings?+Yes, provided the item is suitable for your water pressure and system type. We will flag it before fitting if it is not, because a low-pressure-only mixer on the wrong supply will disappoint you regardless of who installs it.

How long does a typical plumbing repair take?+Most tap, toilet and waste repairs are inside two hours. Cylinder replacements and kitchen pipework are usually a day. Your quote gives the expected duration before you commit.

Is your plumbing work guaranteed?+Yes: a one-year workmanship guarantee on every job, and we carry £2 million public liability insurance.

Can you fix low water pressure?+In most cases. We measure the incoming pressure and flow rate first, then identify whether the restriction is a valve, scale, pipework sizing or the mains supply itself, and quote the appropriate remedy.

Do you work on bathrooms as well as individual fittings?+Yes. We handle full bathroom installations start to finish, with tiling carried out by our trusted tiler and included in your original quote.

Which areas do you cover?+High Wycombe, Amersham, Chesham, Beaconsfield, Marlow, Aylesbury, Princes Risborough, Gerrards Cross, Maidenhead and the villages between them.

How can I pay?+Credit card, debit card and cash. On larger installations a deposit is taken before work begins, with the balance due on completion.
