The Service

## What counts as an emergency, and what happens when you ring
An emergency is anything that is damaging your property, leaving you without heat or hot water, or that is unsafe. Burst pipes and mains leaks, water coming through a ceiling, a boiler that has failed in winter, no hot water in a house with young children or elderly residents, blocked drains backing up into the property, and any smell of gas all qualify.

When you ring 07833 203288 the phone is answered by the engineer rather than a call handler taking a message. That matters at 3am, because the first thing you get is instruction: where your stopcock is likely to be, which appliance to isolate, whether to turn the electricity off at that ceiling, and what not to touch. That conversation alone regularly stops a bad situation becoming an expensive one.

On arrival the job is stabilised first: water off, leak contained, gas isolated, danger removed, and only then diagnosed and repaired. Where a permanent fix needs a part that is not on the van, the property is made safe and watertight and the return visit is arranged straight away rather than left open.

Any gas emergency is handled under Gas Safe registration 975777, and every job is covered by £2 million of public liability insurance.

What Happens If It Waits

## With water, the cost is decided in the first hour
An escape of water is one of the most common and most expensive domestic insurance claims in the UK, and the reason is simple: volume over time. A burst pipe left running overnight puts hundreds of litres into floors, ceilings and wall cavities. Getting the supply isolated in fifteen minutes rather than five hours is the single biggest factor in what the repair ends up costing you.

Water travels further than people expect. It runs along joists and reappears rooms away, soaks insulation that then holds moisture against timber, and saturates plasterboard which sags and eventually comes down. Even after the leak is fixed, damp cavities take weeks to dry and can leave you with mould, ruined decoration and lifted flooring.

Heating emergencies carry a different cost. A house left unheated in a cold snap risks pipes freezing and splitting: a burst that only reveals itself when everything thaws and every joint that has been forced open starts running at once. Meanwhile, a household without hot water for days is a genuine welfare problem, not an inconvenience.

Gas is the one that is not about money. If you can smell gas, turn the supply off at the meter, open the windows, avoid switches and naked flames, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 first. Then ring us to put the fault right.

### Common mistakes we get called out to fix

- Not knowing where the stopcock is

Find it now, before you need it. Usually under the kitchen sink or in the downstairs cloakroom, and worth checking it actually turns.

- Waiting until morning to save a call-out

Six hours of running water costs far more in drying, plaster and flooring than any out-of-hours attendance ever will.

- Patching a leak with tape and hope

Temporary wraps buy minutes, not days. Pressure finds the weak point again, usually while nobody is home.

- Leaving electrics live under a leak

Water in ceiling voids reaches light fittings and cabling. Isolate the affected circuits before anything else.

- Turning a gas appliance back on to test it

If an appliance has been isolated for a safety reason, it stays isolated until a Gas Safe registered engineer has checked it.

Our Process

## A fixed sequence, every job,so nothing gets guessed at

- 01
### Call answered
You get the engineer on the phone, not a message service, day, night, weekend or bank holiday.

- 02
### Make safe over the phone
You are talked through isolating water, gas or electricity so the damage stops before anyone arrives.

- 03
### Attend & stabilise
On site, the leak is contained or the appliance isolated first. Nothing gets diagnosed while water is still running.

- 04
### Diagnose & repair
The actual fault is found and fixed where parts allow, with the price agreed before the repair goes ahead.

- 05
### Verify & guarantee
System repressurised, appliance tested, area checked for secondary damage, and the work covered by our one-year guarantee.

What You Actually Get

## The difference between a fixand a job that stays fixed

The phone actually gets answeredNo queue, no automated menu, no callback promised for the morning. A small family firm means the engineer picks up.

Immediate damage limitationGuidance on isolating the supply starts during the first call, which is where most of the money is saved.

Gas Safe registered for gas emergenciesRegistration 975777 means boiler and gas appliance faults are handled legally and safely, not bodged out of hours.

One engineer for water and heatPlumbing and heating under one number, so a leaking system does not need two trades and two waits.

Pricing explained before work startsQuotes are free. Where a fixed quote is not possible on an emergency, the £100 call-out fee is explained before we attend.

Fixed properly, not just stoppedEmergency repairs are permanent repairs wherever parts allow, and they carry the same one-year workmanship guarantee.

In Detail

## Emergency scenarios we are called to across Buckinghamshire
Different emergencies need different first actions. Here is what we see most across High Wycombe, Marlow, Amersham and the surrounding towns, and how each is handled on arrival.

### Burst pipes and escape of water
Bursts cluster in two places: buried or hidden copper that has corroded, and pipework in cold voids such as lofts, garages and under suspended floors that has frozen and split. The freeze-thaw pattern means the damage often appears the day the temperature climbs back up.

On arrival the mains is isolated, the affected section is cut out and remade in copper or barrier plastic, and the system is refilled and pressure-tested. Where the burst is in a wall or floor we will explain exactly what access is required before opening anything up.

Once dry, we can check the surrounding pipework for the same failure mode, because a pipe that has frozen once will freeze again in the same spot unless it is lagged or rerouted.

### No heating or hot water
Winter heating failures are usually pressure loss, a frozen condensate pipe, a failed pump, an ignition or fan fault, or a diverter valve on a combi. Frozen condensate in particular is a cold-snap classic and is often resolved on the visit.

The priority on arrival is getting heat back to the property that night wherever a repair is possible with parts carried. If a component has to come in, we say so clearly and get the return visit booked rather than leaving you waiting on a callback.

### Leaks, overflows and drainage backing up
Not every leak is dramatic. Ceiling stains, a cupboard that smells damp, and heating pressure that drops week on week are all slow leaks doing steady damage. These get traced rather than guessed, using pressure testing and systematic isolation to narrow down the location before anything is lifted.

Overflowing cisterns, failed float valves, leaking waste traps and blocked soil stacks are all handled, along with drains backing up into showers and downstairs toilets, which usually means a blockage downstream of the property rather than at the fitting itself.

### Landlords, tenants and out-of-hours cover
Landlords and letting agents across Buckinghamshire use us for out-of-hours cover because the response is direct: the engineer takes the call, attends, and reports back on what was found and what it cost. No layers, no ticket numbers.

For tenants, the make-safe advice given on the phone is the same regardless of who is paying: stopping the damage comes first and the paperwork is sorted afterwards.

Payment is by credit card, debit card or cash. Quotes are free, and where the job can be priced up front it is priced up front, even at 2am.

Questions

## Straight answersbefore you book
Anything not covered here, ring 07833 203288 and ask. You will speak to the engineer who would be doing the work, and a straight answer costs nothing.

07833 203288

Do you really answer the phone at 3am?+Yes. Emergency cover is genuinely 24 hours and the phone is answered first time by the engineer, not a call centre taking a message for the morning. Any type of emergency is covered: no heat, no hot water, leaks and burst pipes included.

How much is an emergency call-out?+Quotes are always free and most work is priced at a fixed figure before it starts. Where the job cannot be fixed-quoted up front, a £100 call-out fee applies and is explained to you before we attend, so nothing on the invoice is a surprise.

How quickly can you get to me?+It depends where you are and what we are already on, and you will be given a realistic time on the call rather than an optimistic one. High Wycombe is home base, with Amersham, Chesham, Beaconsfield, Marlow, Aylesbury, Princes Risborough, Gerrards Cross and Maidenhead all covered.

What should I do while I wait?+For a water leak, turn off the stopcock and open the taps to drain the system down, and isolate electrics near any water. For a suspected gas leak, turn off the gas at the meter, open windows, avoid switches and flames, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. We talk you through it on the call.

Is the emergency repair permanent or just a patch?+It is a permanent repair wherever the parts on the van allow. If a component has to be ordered, the property is made safe and watertight and the return visit is booked immediately: you are not left with tape and a promise.

Do you cover weekends and bank holidays?+Yes. The line runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and bank holidays.

Is emergency work guaranteed?+Yes. Emergency repairs carry the same one-year workmanship guarantee as any other job, and we hold £2 million public liability insurance.

Can you deal with gas emergencies?+Yes, under Gas Safe registration 975777, which you can verify on the Gas Safe Register. If you can currently smell gas, call 0800 111 999 first, then ring us to get the fault diagnosed and repaired.

Do you work for landlords and letting agents?+Yes, both domestic and small commercial. You get a direct line to the engineer and a clear account of what was found, what was done and what it cost.

How can I pay for an out-of-hours visit?+Credit card, debit card and cash are all accepted, and payment is taken on completion for standard emergency repairs.
